Christa Katz Pierce is a Surface Designer and Illustrator with 12+ years of experience creating artwork for apparel, home goods, publishing, and stationery. She has built her career as an Apparel Surface Designer with Kroger (Fred Meyer) and Hanna Andersson, where she specialized in illustration and print/pattern development. Known for her strong design sensibility and bubbly, collaborative communication, Christa brings both artistry and efficiency to every project.
In addition to her corporate design career, Christa is the founder of Wild Optimist, a stationery and gift brand now in its ninth year. Featuring greeting cards, stickers, patches, and art prints, Wild Optimist is carried by more than 100 retailers across the United States, with wholesale distribution through Faire and BuyOlympia.
Christa’s freelance illustration work has spanned projects with Microsoft, Papyrus, HarperCollins, Compendium, Chronicle, Elk Cove Vineyards, and Eccolo. Highlights include diversity-focused illustrations for Microsoft’s global platforms, greeting cards and journals stocked in Target nationwide, and the publication of two children’s books with HarperCollins. Her debut title, Did You Know That I Love You? (2014), was praised by The New York Times, featured on The Today Show, and endorsed by Brooke Shields. She illustrated Lucy London's children's book, A Peaceful Garden on 2018. Christa is represented by Steven Malk at Writer’s House Literary Agency.
